What we are doing at home…

This morning we read “Caps for Sale,” and then practiced balancing pillows on our heads. It was a LOT harder than it looks! LOL.

So I know a lot of people are suddenly home, many of them with their children as well. This isn’t a new phenomenon for me, as we have chosen to homeschool from the beginning. So being home with six kids all day, every day is my normal. What is NOT normal is being told that we must stay in and away from others. My kids are missing their friends and I am too! But I am thankful for FaceTime and Zoom and just having a cell phone and being able to communicate with our loved ones.

My older girls created their very own shadow puppet theater, without me even knowing!

One of the other things I am thankful for is the opportunity to just spend quiet, creative time as a family. This is also a normal thing in our home. But there is something about boredom (not being able to play with others), that has brought out more creative curiosity and exploration in both me and my kids. And I look forward to seeing all that we are able to express and create as the days, weeks, and months go on. Maybe we will find time to write and illustrate entire books? Or maybe we will write and act out a new screenplay. Maybe we will write new songs? Or perhaps we will begin a new blog or start a new YouTube channel for kids, by kids? The ideas are endless. ๐Ÿ™‚

This week, I have created a beautiful space for us to work on our sewing skills again. My project this week is to create an entire alphabet of fabric for my littles. Below are some pics of what I am working on…and if you’re wondering where the “A” went, a certain little “Abigail” of mine walked off with her favorite letter and we haven’t been able to find it yet. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, I wanted to give a shout out to my awesome husband for snapping this photo for me!

Thanks, Kelli! It’s in the basement (the room that has been my photography studio space).
